Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts

Installation View, Trajectories 1-4, Miguel Arzabe, Courtesy of the Artist

Co-curated by Selam Bekele for the CCA Wattis Institute, Resonance of Place features iterative works by—Zarouhie Abdalian, Miguel Arzabe, and Natani Notah—who move across installation, performance, and video. The stories reveal intimate understandings of the Bay Area landscape; where the artists have all lived.

Throughout these artworks are material objects which reference specific narratives about the places in which they are situated—a national forest, a closed café, and a crowded pier, for example.

With these serial compositions, the artists respond to shifts in their respective environments, recalling the ways that particular locations can echo throughout history.

A 120-page print catalog featuring artist interviews, installation images, and curatorial essays is available for purchase here.
