As Curator and Director of Exhibitions at MoAD, Selam Bekele managed the design, development, and creative direction for over 12 monumental exhibitions! She curated 4 shows, and redesigned the 20,000 sq-ft museum; collaborating with insitutions like SFMoMA, Aperture, and Fotografiska.

As a Curatorial Fellow, Selam Bekele supported the research, programming, and exhibition development at the CCA Wattis Institute in San Francisco, CA. Her focus in contemporary art and experimental media was enriched through collaborative explorations with a dynamic team. She has worked directly with artists such as Cecilia Vicuña, Jeffery Gibson, Raven Chacon, and Lorainne O’Grady,

In 2016, Bekele moved to New York and started TZTA, an interdisciplinary platform that researches oral histories and nomadic folklore from Africa and the Middle-East. Bekele’s work has led her to travel extensively to over 15 countries to host performances, interview artists, and engage in projects with international communities.
